Chairman, Dr. Damenda Porage and his team of trainers of Buddhist Brotherhood conducted a two day workshop on English Language Communication Art to the students of Buddhist and Pali University, Sri Lanka recently at Green Training Centre, Kaluthara.
Fifty selected student monks from the first year to the third year participated in this two day program which successfully concluded on Saturday the 20th July 2019.
Some student monks who participated in the program say this is the best English language training program they have ever participated in their lives and many others requested to repeat this program every year. The comments by the participants are listed below.
The department of English of the University headed by Dr. Nipunika Madugodage organised this two day program which aimed to develop English communication skills, self confidence, teamwork, public speaking skills and leadership skills of the young Buddhist monks who are presently studying in the University.
In his concluding remarks Dr. Damenda Porage emphasized the value of learning a foreign language to disseminate dhamma among the needy communities all over the world to make a world full of peace, love and compassion.
Dr. Waruni Thennakoon and Ms Thilini Weerasooriya also represented the Department of English BPU, in the program and from the Foundation Ms. Shermila Milroy, Ms. Nathali Senanayake and Ms. Dinu Jayasooriya participated as resource persons.
