Dalai Lama Offers Silver Bowls to the Tooth Relic in Kandy

World Buddhist leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 82nd birthday was celebrated in the ancient Palace of the holy Tooth Relic in Kandy, Sri Lanka on Friday. Two sterling silver bowls were offered on this day to offer the dana (meals) to the holy tooth relic of the Buddha. The sterling silver bowls offering took place approximately after 400 years and these bowls are expected to remain three or four centuries until they cannot be used again. The previously offered sterling silver bowls are expected to be sent to the museum. The bowl offering was done to request long life and good health for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama from the holy Tooth Relic of the Buddha which is world famous for miracles and super powers. People believe the deities in and around the holy Tooth Relic Palace are very positive and help people in numerous ways. The members of the Sri Lankan Tibetan Buddhist Brotherhood Society organized special prayers for good health and longevity for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We also did many offerings to the holy Tooth Relic on this day praying that soon His Holiness would be able to pay a visit to the palace to pay homage to the holy Tooth Relic.
