His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 82nd birthday was celebrated in the ancient Palace of the holy Tooth Relic in Kandy on Friday the 6th of July 2017. Two sterling silver bowls were offered on this day to offer the dana (meals) to the holy tooth relic of the Buddha. The sterling silver bowls offering took place approximately after 400 years and these bowls are expected to remain three or four centuries until they cannot be used again. The previously offered sterling silver bowls by the royals are expected to be sent to the museum. A grand alms giving to 82 Buddhist monks including Asgiriya Mahanayake Thero Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana presided the event.
