BUDDHA PURNIMA, INTERNATIONAL VESAK DAY CELEBRATED VIRTUALLY IN A GRAND MANNER

Maha Pirith Chanting for the International Day of Vesak organized by International Buddhist Confederation (India) and the Buddhist Brotherhood (Sri Lanka partner organisation) for Budhdha Purnima Day (Vesak Poya Day) was held in Kandy today with the participation of Venerable Theros of Malwathu Viharaya lead by Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Anunayake Thero under auspices of the Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thero in Kandy yesterday on 26, May.

Thirty Nine countries took part in this international event which was held concurrently in Kandy, Bodhgaya, Lumbini, Seoul, Leh etc.

Along with many other Most Venerable international leaders of Maha Sangha, the Prime Ministers India Shri Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Hon Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed the Buddhist world in the inaugural session.
